Q&A with a (delusional (is there any other kind?)) Jets Fan:
Me: What do you think of the Thomas Jones move?
Jets Fan: Obviously I”m ridiculously ecstatic… Pennington, Thomas Jones, and Laveranues are like the Aikman, Emmitt, and Irvin of the 21st Century. Why are you quoting me?
I’d just like to say that, yes, obviously the deal for the Jets was a great one. They moved down in the 2nd Round (they traded 2nd Round Picks and Thomas Jones in the deal) and they got a 28-year-old RB with something to prove, despite two great back-to-back seasons. I know the RB market is flooded right now, but the Bears could have easily gotten a better deal than that, despite him being in the last year of his contract.
The Chicago Bears, like so many other recent Super Bowl losers, seem to be falling apart. They did bring their Head Coach back, but they lost their Defensive Coordinator, starting RB, and now their Pro Bowl LB is asking for a trade. Not to mention their QB “situation”. This is a team with around $17 million in cap room! Have they fallen asleep during this free agency period? I haven’t heard a peep out of them. I really do not understand what is going on with this team. Does the NFL require all Super Bowl losers to fall into a tailspin? (saying all this, I’m sure Tommie Harris (the best player in the NFL) could easily lead them to another NFC Championship next year)
